So I have been reported for a picture that I barely think registers on the nudity scale. I have seen so much more. I mean I have seem my breasts (gasp). ....looks around...

But that's honestly not what has me upset. People have seen a rise lately and I have been told it is probably a rival author. I am very well known for promotion. I promote everyone and all genres.

My friend list is small on purpose. I don't friend easily. And this year in fact I have probably only friended 10 people and blocked at least 3 of those. This shows you how skeezy it can get or just plain inappropriate.

I don't put up with BS. I call people out: frauds, plagiarist, etc. I think as an author it is something we should be doing. Warning others of" policy changes and if need be the losers/stalkers and anything else book related. Raise each other up. Help each other out.

I have always said my skills are varied but there are times where I need someone to help me. No author, especially in the Indie world (but also in the trad pub world) can do it alone. Gone are the days that you have someone pushing and marketing your book. You first need to make a name for yourself.

And so in regards to that. My pages are really quite tame and I do that on purpose. I don't need all this drama and BS. In fact I plain an simple hate drama BS.

This report was because someone literally went through all my Suzy Ayers posts (and there are a lot) all the way back to December to find this picture. It is a promotion that I did that visually shows a sex scene in my story.

PS I did a test and not sure that this person knows this. I posted the picture for only my "friends". And My S Ayers pages was also reported. That narrows you down, coupled with the fact that you are new. GOODBYE!


ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
In fact the income from my books was literally feeding my children at one point. I have since reached out and  found other ways, but still I am struggling. People need to stop finding things on purpose to be hurtful of others. We need more good. More nice. More pay it forward. Not vindictive or hateful.

Wow, somehow I am selling way more % wise these days at Smashwords go figure. It was like 90% at Amazon but since they are just not reporting my sales or paying me less because people in say AU are buying under Amazon.com, yet the reader has to pay more btw, double win for them or they aren't showing me the borrowed books people have told me they got.

I am guessing all this has to do with their new program which I'm not super excited about. So my "reported sales" for the last 30 days at Amazon are 20 (still waiting on my audit, not holding my breath) and Smashwords 9. Hmm perhaps KDP Select might be coming off of some of my babies. This lazy author has yet to do Allromance.

Sigh still writing..would love others to chime in.

Excerpt 3: (Devlin's POV)

I heard the front door close and turned my attention back to the video monitors from the

clubs. I scrolled through the feed from Desire. In the VIP section, I noticed someone familiar. Ally.

She sat with Nikki. But there was a look in her eyes, one of loneliness, sadness. I watched as she drank her drink, talked with Nikki, but she never laughed. Not once. I felt like a complete dick. I was asking for her complete trust, her honesty, her submission, yet I couldn’t be true to my self and
tell her about my past, about Aiden and Caroline. I had to now. He was here.

I picked up my phone and sent her a text.

ME: Pumpkin, you look sad.

Ally looked in the crowd, looking side to side.

ME: I’m not there. Her eyes went up to the camera.

ME: Bingo. You look gorgeous.

Ally: Sir...

Me: Yes, pumpkin. God, how I’ve missed you.

Ally: I can’t do this Devlin. Not until you can share the secrets with me.

Me: You look miserable. Did you forget what you said to me at the diner?

Ally: No.

Me: Alexis...

Ally: Devlin...

The sadness in her eyes, the stubbornness she took on the subject amazed me. I wanted to wrap her up in my arms and never let go. The way I felt about her hadn’t changed in two weeks. She was the one that wanted out, but I wasn’t going to let that happen.

Me: In time. Good night.

There was no response. I watched her place her phone in her purse and look at the camera again, before hanging her head. It was only time before Ally knew I was back in the states, if she hadn’t put two and two together yet. The way she looked around for me proved she was still there with me. How the hell was I going to tell her about my past?

I grew up in a small, idyllic affluent town in the Western part of Connecticut, USA. The town definitely did not match my personality. My high school years were filled with the proverbial teenage fun, although not too much by me. I stayed close to home and pursued my B.A. in English Comparative Literature from a local college and then continued on for my M.A in English Professional Writing. I have always had a love for reading and literature and only furthered that during my studies. Wow! So it’s been forever since I have blogged about anything. Today’s post is a warning to my author friends. So Amazon is again deleting reviews. Big surprise right? (note the sarcasm)

Anyway, so you know all those events where you give a gift card, or you give those to family and friends and they say—oh I am going to support you and buy your books. Yeah tell them not to unless you want to see about 5 valued reviews drop off your books. Not just the one from the gift-cardee (yes, I am an author, I make words up).

This goes for gifting your books too right? Nope. Amazon likes that authors have to buy books that they already own. Sigh. But there is some pretend limit. So don’t buy too many, whatever that means.

Where am I getting all this crazy cockamamie stuff? (I can get naughty words in everywhere peeps) A trusted group on my yahoo loop. They are Indie and hybrid published (meaning some where traditionally published and came over to Indie and fought for their rights and others have some toes in certain trad pub waters.

Anyway so what do we do?

Well, the solutions they said were:

1. Buy Amazon cards at a store and snail mail them. But this doesn’t even guarantee your winners from your events and contests to buy your books, just like before with online. And do they really want to give their address? And postmarked from where you are too?
2. Buy online gift cards for other places like Starbucks and Victoria’s Secret. Ultimately Amazon is just shooting themselves in the foot. IMHO.
3. Other people have a second account which is another no-no for Amazon. So with that you risk all your reviews. And ultimately they DO NOT have to sell your books at all. Remember that people.
4. I’m just going to continue giving me free copies from Smashwords. I have a couple of books that are Amazon only, but still I am just keeping Smashwords for this specific reason. Plus, I can make things free. People say they can’t review if they didn’t buy the book on Amazon. I’ve been doing it as a reviewer. I haven’t checked to see if they are still up, but it lets me.

 

You are probably wondering why. Well this isn’t new. Amazon goes through ebbs and tides with their crazy stuff, but there has been a huge discussion on people “buying” reviews. When I first heard about this phenomenon I was disgusted. I still am disgusted. You will know who they are. They released the book and have 500 5-star reviews from their pre-order status. Then once the book starts selling the real reviews come in and they are 1’s and 2’s if that. Most say things like I don’t know who those other reviewers are but this book wasn’t edited or other terrible things…

But why do we give a crap?

Well rankings of course. They are holding a slot where a real true valuable author could and should be getting recognition. But alas the crazy world we live it.

For me I gave up caring about reviews and rankings. Sure, I love the great ones, but I no longer obsess. I appreciate all the good and push out the bad. Hey, I’m an optimist. ;)
